In Lackawaxen, concerned residents gathered, aware of limited emergency medical services. Lackawaxen EMS was born, driven by a single idea: helping and keeping people safe. A group of concerned citizens noticed Lackawaxen lacked nearby emergency medical help. Motivated, they took action to bridge this gap, ensuring timely critical care access. They aimed for a sustainable EMS with skilled Emergency Medical Technicians and top-notch equipment. Objective: quality care for all, regardless of ability to pay.
Over years, visionaries turned ideas into reality. Seeking guidance, collaborating with officials to establish Lackawaxen EMS. With community support, services launched in 1956. Dedicated teams responding to emergencies 24/7 across town. Overcoming obstacles with determination and community support.
Lackawaxen EMS stands strong as a testament to the power of an idea and the willingness of a community to come together for a common goal. The services we provide extend beyond emergency medical care; they foster a sense of security and trust among the residents.
Today, Lackawaxen EMS continues to evolve and expand its services, adapting to the growing needs of the community. The idea that sparked its inception remains at the core of everything we do – the idea that a small group of individuals can make a tremendous difference in the lives of many. We currently cover an approximate 81 square miles (which doesn’t not including outside of the township) with a population estimated to be around 10,000 residents. We operate out of 2 stations, housing 3 ambulances and a quick response vehicle. Our crews are on 24/7/365 no matter of the weather.
Our services has just been upgraded to and advanced care level, therefore some of our crew members are able to do:
Intravenous fluid replacements
Advanced airway management and monitoring
Pain management
Certain IV medications
